About Lake Region Animal Hospital

Our History

Dr. Douglas Griffin founded our practice in 1974. At first he treated both large and small animals, but as the small animal business became busier he had to discontinue treating farm animals. At that point, Dr. Barry Porter joined him and they both built a very successful practice due to both the competency of the two doctors and how they treated all of their clients and their 4 legged children. There have been a couple of additions to the hospital over the years and we now have a nice sunny reception area, 4 exam rooms, a large treatment area and surgical suite and plenty of kennel space.  Dr. Porter retired in 2010, and Dr. Griffin decided to retire in 2019.  In November of 2019 he sold the practice to Dr. Andrine Belliveau who has worked part-time or full-time as a veterinarian for Lake Region since 2012.  In 2022 we became AAHA accredited.   This means that we passed a number of rigorous standards involving patient care, team training, medical recordkeeping and more - a feat that less than 15% of animal hospitals in the USA have achieved!
